Xiaomi Mi Max 3 design, color schemes revealed ahead of launch

TL;DR

The Mi Max series is one of the few phones designed for people with large hands  or those who just want a huge screen. In any case, we’re but a few days away from the Mi Max 3 launch and Xiaomi has taken to the MIUI forum to show off the actual design ahead of the big reveal.

We already got a taste of the look of the phone via a TENAA listing some time back, but the images confirm a vertically stacked dual-lens camera setup, rear fingerprint scanner, and (yes!) a headphone jack.

The renders also show several color options, namely gold, black, and blue. Personally, I’d go for the blue option, because I have no sense of taste and simply enjoy bold colors.

The forum post also confirms that the Mi Max 3 will have a 6.9-inch (presumably full HD+) display and a 5,500mAh battery. The latter means you can expect two days of good usage from the phablet before it conks out. Don’t be surprised if the phone delivers three days of juice with a few power-saving measures enabled.

The Best

Thanks to the aforementioned TENAA listing, we also know that the phone will pack 3GB to 6GB of RAM, 32GB to 128GB of storage, a 5MP selfie camera, and Android 8.1 Oreo. We’re also expecting a Snapdragon 636 chipset in the phablet, which should make for a noteworthy power upgrade over the lightweight Snapdragon 625 in the Mi Max 2.

It’s also believed that a Mi Max 3 Pro might make an appearance alongside the standard model. The Pro model is tipped to pack a more powerful Snapdragon 710 processor. Xiaomi will reveal the Mi Max 3 on July 19 (Thursday), so if you’re hoping for a Pro variant, you’ll have to wait until then to find out.
