Waze is on the lookout for beta testers to pilot new features

Publish date: 2022-08-18

Google’s purchase of Waze was relatively big news last year, and so far we’ve seen a little bit of integration between the two services, although not as much as some may have been expecting. However, development on Waze hasn’t halted, if anything the service looks like it could be in line for some big new features in the coming months, as the company has just announce a new beta participation program.

The beta program appeared on Waze’s forum and website a few days ago, and appears to be open to anyone who’s interested. The only requirements are that you have a device with Android 2.2 or higher, a display resolution of 320×480, can speak decent enough English to provide useful feedback, and of course you’ll need time to actively participate and respond to the beta team. Waze would also like applicants to have a “technical sense”, although it’s not particularly clear what they mean by that.

If you’re interested, you can head on over to the Waze Beta signup page and fill out the profile information. Although anyone is free to apply, the beta testing group will actually be quite small. But for the lucky few who are chosen, there’s also the promise of a chance to win some cool “swag” for participating.
