Watch Matias Duarte and Josh Topolsky talk design at FORM 2014

Matias Duarte and Joshua Topolsky have been having conversations about design and mobile technology for close to a decade.

In a fireside chat with Topolsky from April this year, Duarte hinted at Material Design and explained how modern design should work across screen sizes consistently. Mere months later, at Google I/O, his words materialized. Even when he is not dropping hints of future developments, Matias Duarte is still fascinating to listen. And you don’t have to be a designer or app developer to appreciate the insight he provides.

At the FORM conference in San Francisco yesterday, Matias Duarte and Josh Topolsky had another fireside chat that touched on many aspects of design, from the fashionable flat designs trend, to the birth of the Material concept, which Duarte called an “insurrection,” and the next big challenge in mobile design, which in Duarte’s vision is creating a framework for apps to interact in deeper and more natural ways.

The whole 38-minute talk is very informative, and I would say entertaining. If you have time to spare, don’t miss it.
