Verizon's exclusive Pantech Perception now available for purchase

The Verizon exclusive Pantech Perception is now available on the carrier’s website, as promised a while ago, and, we have to say that it’s a pretty interesting smartphone for its price.

The smartphone costs $99.99 with a two-year contract and it’s running Android Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box (with a Jelly Bean upgrade promised soon). The screen is a decent 4.8-inch Super AMOLED with a 720p resolution, the exact same specifications of last year’s popular Samsung Galaxy S3.

The 4G LTE Pantech Perception also has an 8 megapixel main camera, as well as a 2 megapixel one on the front, while the CPU is dual-core, running at 1.5 GHz. The smartphone has 1GB of RAM and the internal memory is 16 GB.

The device features Pantech’s Motion Sense technology, which allows you to perform various tasks by moving your hand above the screen, without actually touching it (like, for example, changing the music track that’s playing at a particular moment). If that sounds familiar, it might be because touchless control is one of the main features of the Galaxy S4, due for a Verizon arrival on May 30.

Besides the usual on-contract option, you can also get the Pantech Perception with a month-to-month service, in which case the phone will cost you $479.99.
