Tile's stuff-finding technology makes its way to earbuds, luggage, and more

Publish date: 2023-07-10

TL;DR

You might best know Tile from their small, square Bluetooth trackers that help you find lost items, but the company recently announced it has partnered with several companies to bring its item-finding technology to their products.

As with recent news regarding Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, the idea behind Tile’s partnerships is to have its technology in as many places as possible. Functionality won’t change — you add the products to the Tile app and, from there, you’re able to see where they are as long as they’re within range.

You can ping devices to locate them with sound, but if the devices have no built-in speakers, other people with the Tile app can help find your lost earbuds.

Tile has partnered up with Bose, Boosted, Samsonite, Herschel Supply, and Propeller Health. More specifically, Bose looks to incorporate Tile functionality into its SoundSport Wireless and QuietControl 30 sometime in 2018, while Samsonite will release Tile-integrated luggage this spring.

You will also spot Herschel backpacks, Boosted skateboards, and Propeller Health inhalers with Tile’s technology throughout the year.

Tile’s partnerships don’t end there — the company also made “access point partnerships” with the likes of Comcast, Ruckus Wireless, and the San Jose International Airport to help people find their stuff. The airport has already put the technology to use, while Comcast and Ruckus Wireless will implement it later this year.

Tile’s intentions are clear, and we’re excited to see whether it will meet its goals. Only time will tell, I suppose.
