Consumers in India don’t suffer from a lack of choice when it comes to buying a phone. From the latest and greatest to the entry-level, there is something for everyone. Luckily for those on a tight budget, there are a lot of really good options available as well. Here’s a roundup of some of the best phones under 10,000 rupees in India.

The best phones under 10,000 rupees in India:

Editor’s note: We will continue to update this list of the best phones under 10,000 rupees as more become available.

Poco M2 Reloaded

The Poco M2 was an impressive budget-friendly smartphone released in India last year. The “Reloaded” version is essentially the same phone but with less RAM and storage. The compromise was more than enough to bring the phone’s price to under 10,000 rupees. It also replaces the similarly specced Redmi 9 Prime, even though Poco, Xiaomi, and Redmi are all their own entities.

It’s one of the few phones in this price range to come with a Full HD display and a quad-camera setup. The lower RAM and storage aren’t too bad, but it has a faster processor than the other devices on this list. Seeing a phone in 2022 with Android 10 is certainly disappointing, though. Unfortunately, that’s par for the course in this price segment.

Realme Narzo 50i

This budget phone maker isn’t leaving any stone unturned to capture as big a share of the Indian market as possible. Realme introduced a new line of smartphones in the ultra-affordable segment a couple of years ago, and we are already at its fifth iteration. Unlike previous editions, it is unfortunately not the Narzo A option (the Narzo 50A) on this list, but the Narzo 50i.

The Narzo 50i is the entry-level model in the series. It comes with an HD+ screen, a single rear camera unit, and a plastic build. It’s not all negative though, with its huge 5,000mAh battery and entry-level specs ensuring that it can last a few days without running out of charge. It’s also significantly cheaper than the 50A, starting at just 7,499 rupees.

That said, if you’re willing to go beyond the confines of a 10,000 rupee budget, you can pick up the Narzo 50A starting at 11,499 rupees. The 50A comes with a much faster processor, better camera setup, and an even larger battery.

Redmi 9 Activ and Redmi 9A Sport

The Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A are the company’s ultra-affordable smartphones in the country. As is usually the case with every iteration of these lines, the 9 and the 9A slot right into our list of some of the best phones you can get for under 10,000 rupees. Redmi refreshed the phones in the form of the Redmi 9 Activ and Redmi 9A Sport with Android 11 and a higher RAM version for the 9 Activ, but everything else stays the same.

There are a few things that are common between the two phones as well. This includes the display size and resolution, battery capacity, the primary camera, and the front-facing shooter. However, the Redmi 9 Activ tacks on a second depth sensor on the back, has a faster processing package with more RAM and storage and comes with a fingerprint scanner.

Both are excellent options in the budget category, but the Redmi 9 Activ is definitely the best of the lot. However, you’ll be able to save around 2,000 rupees with the 9A Sport, so it’s worth considering as well.

Realme C21Y

Realme and Redmi continue their intense rivalry across all price segments in India. The race heats up in the under 10,000 rupees category as well, with the Realme C21Y set to take on the Redmi 9 Activ.

The size and resolution of the displays are similar, you get the same battery capacity, and the design, with a square-ish camera bump on the rear, is familiar as well. You also get the same amount of RAM and storage for the price. The C21Y has a triple rear camera setup, though, compared to the dual-camera unit of the Redmi.

Depending on what is more important to you, it’s truly a toss-up between the two ultra-affordable smartphones from the two rival phone makers.
