If you’re in the market for the best smartphone in India, you’re certainly not going to be suffering from a lack of choice. There are tons of great Android options ranging from absolute powerhouses to comparatively affordable options that give real flagships a run for their money. In this roundup, we’re looking at the best phones in India across price segments.

Best phones in India:

Editor’s note: We will update this list of the best phones in India when new models hit the market.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series

Like its predecessor, the Galaxy S22 series includes three phones: the S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. All three are great options for anyone that wants a powerhouse, with all of them featuring excellent performance and useful extras.

The major differences between the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are because of the larger size of the latter. The S22 Plus comes with a larger display, but with the same resolution, and a bigger battery. Other than that, you’ll get identical performance, the same camera setup, and extras like wireless charging and water resistance with both.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the one you want to take things to the next level. It comes with the largest display of the lot and with a QHD+ resolution. The quad-camera setup on the back is also better, and it also packs a bigger battery than its smaller siblings. With the discontinued Galaxy Note line, the S22 Ultra is the replacement you’re looking for with its built-in S Pen.

If you’re looking for the best of the best, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the way to go. However, it’s also far more expensive than the others. The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus should be more than enough for most users, and you can save a decent chunk of money as well.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

Xiaomi might have made a name for itself in the Indian market because of its fantastic affordable smartphones. Still, the company has some excellent offerings at the other end of the price spectrum as well. It follows up the fantastic Mi 11 Ultra with the Xiaomi 12 Pro.  Xiaomi’s latest flagship is one of the most expensive smartphones it has launched in the country, and unsurprisingly, one of the best phones you can get in India.

It certainly deserves its high price tag, though. It’s a true flagship, with the latest processing package and features like wireless charging, Harman Kardon-tuned stereo speakers, support for Dolby Vision, and reverse wireless charging. A 50MP primary shooter is backed by 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP telephoto cameras.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro misses out on a few features from its predecessor though. The 1.1-inch display on the back is gone. More importantly, there’s no IP rating this time around, which is the only issue with an otherwise excellent flagship. It upstages some phones on this list, though, with its 120W fast charging that Xiaomi claims will give the phone a full charge in just 18 minutes.

OnePlus 10 Pro

OnePlus’ smartphones have gone from flagship killers to true flagships, and the OnePlus 10 Pro continues that evolution. We can’t complain about the high-end specs or features, but it does come with a price bump, making it the most expensive phone from the company yet.

It comes with all the expected upgrades, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and up to 12GB of RAM. You get ultra-fast 80W fast charging and 50W fast wireless charging. OnePlus also continues its partnership with Hasselblad and includes more software tweaks this time around for an even better camera experience.

It’s far from perfect, though. Only the T-Mobile (US) version of the phone comes with an IP rating, and the ColorOS-like software definitely takes some getting used to. Unlike previous generations, there’s no vanilla OnePlus 10 yet, so you’ll have to splurge to get the latest OnePlus flagship.

Asus ROG Phone 5

Of course, it wouldn’t be a good phone for gaming if the battery ran out of juice quickly. Asus has you covered in that regard as well, with the ROG Phone 5 packing a massive 6,000mAh battery. The ROG Phone 5 also offers air triggers that act as shoulder buttons, as well as a triple camera setup that’s a solid improvement over last year’s model. It’s not even as pricey as one might expect, given all that the phone has to offer.

Xiaomi Mi 11X series

The India-exclusive Mi 11X series, comprised of the Mi 11X Pro and standard Mi 11X, is almost a carbon copy of the Redmi K40 line that didn’t launch in the country. Both Mi 11X series phones also come with the same display, with a 120Hz refresh rate, the same battery capacity and fast-charging capability, and an IP53 rating for water resistance.

The biggest differences are when we look at what’s under the hood. The Mi 11X Pro gets a Snapdragon 888 and a 108MP primary shooter, while the Mi 11X gets the Snapdragon 870 and a 48MP primary camera. These are fantastic, affordable alternatives to the true flagships of the series while offering plenty of high-end specs and features to make them worth buying.

Realme GT 2 Pro

Realme continues to offer devices across every price range, so it’s no surprise that the company has an entrant in our list of the best phones you can get in India as well. The latest addition to the company’s flagship portfolio is the Realme GT 2 Pro, and the phone doesn’t fail to impress.

The Realme GT 2 Pro isn’t as flashy as its predecessor, but it’s a really good-looking phone. The bio-polymer back and rounded corners give it a premium, yet muted, look. The eye-catching design is backed by excellent performance, courtesy of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and up to 12GB of RAM. The cameras impress and you get excellent fast charging.

It misses out on extras like wireless charging and an IP rating. But considering the Realme GT 2 Pro is much cheaper than every other phone on this list, it’s no wonder that Realme is doing as well as it is in this highly competitive and budget-conscious market.
