The best Mint Mobile phones you can get

Publish date: 2022-03-31

Mint Mobile isn’t your standard prepaid carrier — instead, you pay upfront for three, six, or 12 months. This structure keeps rates low compared to other prepaid carriers’ plans. You’re more than welcome to bring your own unlocked phone and buy any of Mint Mobile’s plans, so long as your phone supports T-Mobile’s network bands.

However, you can also take the thought out of the equation and buy a phone directly from Mint Mobile, and they have plenty of amazing options available. In fact, they probably have some of the best elections we have seen coming from prepaid MVNO carriers. With that said, here are the best Mint Mobile phones you can buy right now.

The best Mint Mobile phones:

Editor’s note: We will update our list of the best Mint Mobile phones as new devices launch.

1. Samsung Galaxy S22 series

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

The standard Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch display, three rear cameras, and a 3,700mAh battery. Keep in mind that’s the low-end model, which is still a flagship in its own right at its new, lower starting price. The Galaxy S22 Plus has a bigger 6.6-inch display, three rear cameras that include a 64MP sensor, and a solid 4,500mAh battery. The S22 Ultra is a true beast of a smartphone. It has a massive 6.8-inch display, four rear cameras (12MP, 10MP, 10MP, and a huge 108MP sensor), plus a 40MP front camera. Finally, there’s a massive 5,000mAh battery. All three phones have an IP68 rating, support wireless charging, and sport an in-display fingerprint scanner, among other things.

2. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S22 series may be Samsung’s latest and greatest, but some users will still prefer the 2021 flagships. Take the Galaxy S21 Ultra, for example, it sports a design that’s similar to the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus rather than the boxy Galaxy Note series. You still get incredible cameras and a blistering processor to keep you moving.

Along with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset, you’re looking at either 12 or 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. The phone remains tough as ever, with an IP68 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus all around. You’re also looking at an identical quad-camera setup to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, featuring a 108MP main shooter with 10MP periscope telephoto and telephoto options as well as a 12MP ultrawide lens.

In the foldable-screen phone battle, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is definitely a top contender, and it’s one of the best Mint Mobile phones. At the very least, it’s the most affordable folding phone in Samsung’s lineup, and it easily beats the Motorola Razr.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is for those who want something different. This device is a conversation starter that’s sure to turn some heads. It’s been upgraded with a 5G-ready Snapdragon 888 processor, though most internal specs are unchanged from the previous version. Overall, the specs are pretty good, but the improved external display is the most important change. It’s larger than ever before, and can now double as a viewfinder for high-resolution selfies.

5. OnePlus 9 series

OnePlus has long been all about its flagship killing devices. Now, it’s finally entered the realm of the killer flagships with its OnePlus 9 series. They’ve long been available straight from T-Mobile, but now you can pick them up from select MVNOs, too.

We’ve had our issues with the OnePlus camera setup in the past, but the OnePlus 9 series offers something new. The designers teamed up with renowned camera company Hasselblad to tune the lenses to near-perfection. You’ll get a 48MP, 50MP, 2MP trio on the vanilla OnePlus 9, while the OnePlus 9 Pro model adds an 8MP telephoto lens to the mix. OnePlus also adopted 6.55-inch and 6.7-inch displays for the two models, respectively.

Under the hood, you’ll get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage on either model. The 4,500mAh batteries offer enough punch, while the 65W wired charging should keep your time at an outlet to a minimum.

Samsung’s Galaxy A53 is for those who want Mint Mobile’s 5G power with less of a price tag. You still get just about all of the specs you could ask for, including a quad-camera setup, a large 6.5-inch display, and a powerful 5,000mAh  battery. Samsung has, unfortunately, called it quits on the headphone jack — you won’t find one on the Galaxy A53.

Most people will be happy with the images taken with the phone, and the 32MP selfie shooter is no slouch. But there’s more to Samsung’s mid-range device than the camera. You can choose from 6GB or 8GB of RAM to keep you moving. Samsung even offers up to 256GB of storage, more than enough for most people.

7. Motorola Moto Edge 2021

The Moto Edge 2021 is not a full-strength upgrade over last year, but it offers a lot of value for the price. This handset has a Snapdragon 778G and 8GB of RAM, as well as a 108MP main camera. The phone still has a gorgeous 144Hz 6.8-inch Full HD+ display and an impressive 5,000mAh battery. The 30W fast charging also tops just about every other Motorola phone you can buy.

8. Google Pixel 4a 5G

Jimmy Westenberg / Android Authority

If you’re in the market for a mid-range smartphone, the Google Pixel 5a 5G should be at the top of your list. The most impressive thing about it is that it is one of 2021’s best camera phones, despite costing far less than the flagship alternatives.

The handset packs the Snapdragon 765G chipset under the hood and 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. You also get the old-fashioned headphone jack. The display is a slight improvement from the Pixel 4a, with a near bezel-free 6.34-inch screen. You also get three Android OS updates with this phone. All of that for a price of $449.

There’s no wireless charging, but Google finally adopted an IP rating. The phone also packs improved durability thanks to its aluminum construction — though that’s the reason for the lack of wireless charging. Regardless, the price and value make it one of the best Mint Mobile phones you can get.

9. Apple iPhone SE (2022)

Ryan Haines / Android Authority

Small phones still have a place in our hearts in 2022, especially when you can cram flagship internals into them. Regardless of its aging design, the iPhone SE is still one of the best Mint Mobile phones.

The iPhone SE offers the Apple promise at about $400. It includes the familiar glass and metal design we saw on the iPhone 8 and has a very competitive camera. Users will also love that Apple didn’t skimp out on the processor, as the iPhone SE uses the same Apple A15 Bionic processor we see in iPhone 13 handsets. Other benefits include wireless charging and an IP67 rating, two features that some budget phones still lack.
