With plenty of laughs, top-notch performances and chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell, and a heartfelt and touching finale, Eurovision is an easy addition to this list.

A woman mourning her fiancé discovers secrets he was keeping from her while growing closer to his friends and taking a second crack at love.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)

This Netflix original western comedy comes from directors Joel and Ethan Cohn. It was originally supposed to be a five-part limited series for the streamer, but a decision was made to combine the segments into one movie. That choice was probably for the best. This anthology of six Wild West short films is terrific to watch all at once. The best of the five is perhaps the title sequence, where we see a singing cowboy who is not to be messed with. Sword of Trust (2019)

The last film from mumblecore auteur Lynn Shelton before her tragic and untimely death in 2020, Sword of Truth is a moving and hilarious character study starring Shelton’s real-life partner, comedian and podcaster Marc Maron. A grouchy pawnshop owner unwittingly gets involved in a bizarre interaction with conspiracy theorists when a couple comes to him with a Civil War-era sword that some believe is proof the South actually won the war.

Dolemite is My Name (2019)

This is one of the best funny movies on Netflix, along with one of the best Netflix exclusive films. Eddie Murphy plays Rudy Ray Moore, a real-life comic in 1970s Los Angeles who just can’t seem to get his big break. He makes the decision to create a character, Dolemite, so he can say anything he wants. It becomes a big hit for stand-up audiences, and he later expands his reach to star in his own film. This film shows how one of the most popular series of blaxploitation films got its start, and it’s both funny and fascinating.

The Mitchells vs. the Machines (2021)

Can the two make it work after all this time apart?

A Futile and Stupid Gesture (2018)

The film is a snapshot of history, but it’s also a hilarious comedy in its own right, with some truly dark and heartbreaking moments too. Bad Trip (2021)

Hubie Dubois is an enthusiastic community volunteer dedicated to keeping his town safe on Halloween. He’s also extremely easy to scare and the frequent victim of town pranks. His overactive sense of danger may make it extra hard for him this year, as he begins to suspect a real killer is loose and threatening the people least likely to believe him.

Eddie Mannix, a Hollywood fixer who works to solve problems and dodge scandals already has his hands full with difficult stars and directors when an A-list actor is kidnapped and held at ransom.

As parodies go, this one’s pretty spot-on.
