The 7-inch Intel Atom-powered Android tablet from Asus we kept seeing in leaks and rumors, the Fonepad, has been unveiled at MWC 2013 in Barcelona, Spain, and we have more official details for you.

Specs and features

In addition to tablet capabilities, you’ll notice that this tablet will also come with built-in phone features, although don’t expect to find a smaller smartphone cleverly hidden underneath the display this time around. Moreover, it appears that the leak suggesting the device will come with a metal back was dead on. The Fonepad will indeed feature a metal case, a diamond cut camera ring, and it will be available in Titanium Grey and Champagne Gold.

Here’s what you can expect from the Asus Fonepad when it comes to specs and features:

Pricing and release date

The Asus Fonepad will come with an affordable price tag for a device that can also offer phone calls during daily use. In the UK, the device will apparently cost £179. In the EU, the 16GB version without a rear camera will retail for 216, while in the U.S. Fonepad buyers will pay $249 for the device (rear camera included).

The Fonepad will be launched at some point in April, although we don’t have actual release dates for you at this point.

Asus has also announced a couple of accessory for the new device, including the VersaSleeve and Turn Case.

Are you buying this 7-inch smartphone or will you stick with the regular 7-inch Asus-made Nexus 7 tablet?
