Smarty Ring kicks off second campaign, introduces SmartyRing V2

Publish date: 2022-06-18

Back in December we first learned about the Smarty Ring, a unique wearable device that aimed to bring smartwatch-like capabilities in a much smaller package. At the time, the startup was just winding down from its successful Indiegogo campaign with the promise to release the first batch of devices by April of 2014.

Now Smarty Ring is back with a second funding campaign, and says they are still on schedule to meet their original April target for the first batches. The second campaign officially kicked off on March 7th and will only last until the 17th of this month. Smarty Ring’s creators say that all devices claimed in this second shorter campaign will be fulfilled in May.

In addition to giving folks a second chance to get the original Smarty Ring, the company is also offering those who pledged the first time around a chance to upgrade to the new Smarty Ring v2 for $70 extra. So what’s different with the revamped model? According to Smarty Ring, the v2 hardware adds a scrolling display that will be used for Caller ID and likely other forms of notifications. Beyond that, it seems to be largely the same as the original.

For those that have never heard of the Smarty Ring, the small ring has an LED display and is capable of receiving notifications for Android handsets (and iOS). The ring can also display the time, work as a camera trigger for your phone, act as stopwatch, and even control your music.

For more details on the Smarty Ring, or to upgrade to v2 hardware, you’ll want to head on over to the Indiegogo campaign page. What do you think, interested in the Smarty Ring or not?
