Original: February 11, 2020 (3:54 PM ET): Samsung finally unveiled its first-ever vertically folding smartphone — the Galaxy Z Flip — at Unpacked 2020. The handset touts the same Samsung Galaxy experience we have all come to know in love but in a brand new form factor.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comes in four colorways: Mirror Black, Mirror Purple, Mirror Gold (available in select regions), and a silver Thom Browne edition with red, white, and blue pinstripes.

The Samsung Galaxy Z flip is only available in an 8GB of RAM/256GB of storage option, and it will retail for $1,380. It’s already listed on Samsung’s website, and though it initially showed a $440 discount ($940), the device has since returned to its retail price.
The Thom Browne special edition variant is also only available in one 8GB/256GB configuration. It will retail for a whopping $2,480. But unlike the standard device, this special edition variant also comes with some other goodies in the box, including a pair of Galaxy Buds Plus, a Galaxy Watch Active 2, a phone case, and a gift box — all of which come with Browne’s signature design aesthetic that matches the smartphone.
You should be able to purchase the device directly from Samsung’s website in all available markets. If you’re in the US, you’ll also be able to buy the Galaxy Z Flip through your carrier, assuming you are on AT&T or Sprint.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip UK price and availability
The Galaxy Z Flip launches in the UK on February 14 priced at £1,300. Samsung says the foldable will be available in limited quantities from Samsung UK, and selected retailers and carriers. So far, O2 is the only UK network with a listing for the Z Flip.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip India price and availability
The Galaxy Z Flip pre-booking campaign kicked off in India on February 20. The company announced a price of Rs 109,999 (~$1,535), making it slightly more expensive than the US price.
You can already register your interest on the Samsung India website, but the firm says you can pre-order from the Samsung e-shop and select retail stores from February 21.
Those who pre-order via the e-shop will receive “premium white glove delivery” in one of 10 cities. Otherwise, all users get one discounted screen repair and four months of YouTube Premium.

The Thom Browne Edition is also available on Samsung’s website, but we don’t know where else it might be available in the future yet. This device variant comes in at $2,480, but that price is sort of justified considering all of the other goodies you get in the box.
