Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus to receive minuscule battery upgrade

Publish date: 2023-01-12

According to a leak from Galaxy Club, the upcoming Samsung device will feature a 4,500mAh battery. Compared to the original, which had a 4,300mAh cell, it’s an improvement, but not a large one.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a much larger 5,000mAh battery providing it with its impressive battery life. However, there’s a good reason for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus to have a smaller battery. The company needs to make room for the fairly sizable S Pen.

Just because the battery is only marginally bigger, though, doesn’t mean that it won’t feature a greatly improved lifespan. Because the new device will feature a variable refresh rate and more capable display tech, the company could still manage to squeeze plenty of extra life out of the 4,500mAh battery.

Features

Back in April, a rumor circulated saying that the regular Samsung Galaxy Note 20 would feature a 4,000mAh battery, which is a much higher jump proportionately from the preview year’s 3,500mAh offering. Typically, there are diminishing returns when it comes to battery size, so this isn’t entirely unexpected.

Of course, these numbers are all just numbers for the time being, as real-world battery life changes with a variety of factors. We won’t be able to get a good feel for what the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus can do in terms of battery life until we get to use it for an extended period.
