Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 headed to Virgin Mobile Canada

While it may not get the attention that it’s siblings the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are getting, the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is still a nice entry-level phone for those who don’t need the latest top-of-the-line hardware, and it’s coming to Virgin Mobile Canada later this year.

Mobile Syrup received a tip that the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 will be heading to Virgin Mobile Canada, and likely Bell as well, in November or December of 2012. The phone is expected to cost $200-$250, no contract needed. Apparently, the phone will not require a data plan, so customers looking to save money would be able to choose from one of Virgin Mobile Canada’s lower-cost plans.

Though the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 isn’t as high spec’d as its brethren, it is still a respectable handset, especially for the price. The Ace 2 has an 800MHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM, a 3.7-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel camera, 1,500 mAh battery, and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable via MicroSD. The phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it is rumored that it may see an update to Jelly Bean later this year.

With specs like that, if you’re in Canada and looking for a wallet-friendly phone that still packs a punch, it may be well worth waiting a few months and picking up the Galaxy Ace 2 when it becomes available, especially if you prefer prepaid plans.

Would you consider buying the Galaxy Ace 2, or do you have your eye on options at the higher end of the spectrum?
