Samsung Galaxy A3 passes through TENAA

Publish date: 2023-01-10

Images (above) have appeared of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A3 (SM-A300), a more modestly sized 4.5 inch handset than the company’s recent Galaxy flagships. The Galaxy A series looks set to be Samsung’s new range of partially metal bodied mid-tier smartphones.

From the pictures you can spot what looks like a metallic edge around the Galaxy A3, just like Samsung’s recently released Galaxy Alpha. The Galaxy A3 is essentially a slightly smaller version of the A5, which is also picture below.

As well as the images, the TENAA listing gives us a breakdown of most of the handsets specifications. The 4.5 inch AMOLED display comes with in resolution of 540×960, whilst the A5 will have a 5 inch 720p AMOLED screen. The Galaxy A3 also comes with a quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and an 8MP rear camera with accompanying 5MP front camera. The A3 measures 130.1 x 65.5 x 6.9, weighs 112 grams, and will come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The Galaxy A series will be made up of the A3, A5, and A7, each with a display 0.5 inches larger than the last. Each incremental handset version will also feature slightly improved specifications, such as a higher resolution camera and display, larger internal memory, and a bigger battery.

We are still waiting on an official word from Samsung regarding hardware confirmation and release date. I expect that we will hear an announcement sometime in the new few months. Price wise, the A3 will cost between $350 and $400, the A5 is expected between $400 and $450, and the Galaxy A7 will be in the $450-$500 bracket.
