Rovio preparing a new spin-off, Angry Birds Stella

Publish date: 2022-05-31

The creator of Flappy Birds might want to save us from our own addiction, but Rovio is more than happy to keep us hooked while they continue to give us the bird — the Angry Bird, that is.

From Angry Birds to its many sequels and spin-offs, Rovio has spun out the bird-themed games in mass. Most recently came Angry Birds Go, the most massive departure from the bird-flinging formula outside of Bad Piggies. Now Rovio is teasing yet another new spin-off, Angry Birds Stella.

For those that don’t know, Stella is the official name of the pink bird that we’ve seen in a few Angry Birds-related titles before, including Angry Birds Go.

So what is Stella all about? While Rovio has yet to get into the specifics, the developer says that the game is “all about inspiration, empowerment, and other real issues.” Without directly saying it, it seems pretty likely that the series is aimed specifically at girls. No details have been revealed about the gameplay just yet.

The Angry Birds Stella story will live and evolve across physical and digital, bridging them in fun and innovative ways.” qperson=”Mikael Hed” qsource=”Rovio chief executive ” qposition=”center”]

Aside from turning the experience into a game, Rovio also is planning books, toys and other merchandise to fully take advantage of the new spin-off.

The Angry Birds Stella game is slated to launch “sometime later” this year, and we’ll be sure to keep our readers updated when we learn more specifics about the upcoming app.
