The Pixel 5 smartphone wasn’t the most exciting Google smartphone, and now we have the much better Pixel 6 series, but the wallpapers on the older Pixel are fantastic. Thankfully, there’s no need to buy the Pixel 5 to enjoy its looks. Thanks to Mishaal Rahman on Twitter (of XDA Developers fame), there’s a collection of a dozen Pixel 5 wallpapers for you to download.

Most of these wallpapers utilize the display cutout on the Pixel 5, which is in the phone’s upper left corner. If your phone doesn’t have a cutout or it’s in a different position, these wallpapers might not look as seamless. However, they still are very colorful and would probably look nice on most phones. As you can see from the images below, they have a variety of styles. Many are abstract, from the astronaut trying to eat an egg in space to pencils that look like noodles in a bowl.

A couple of the wallpapers appear to be real photographs. As with the illustrations, these photographs are on the surreal side, with one showing what looks to be some children’s blocks stacked up. Another looks like a circuit board with some colorful wires.

How to install wallpapers on your phone

Let’s start by telling you you shouldn’t simply download the images you see previewed below. These have been compressed for online optimization and won’t look as great on your handset. Instead, scroll down and look for the download button under the previews. Click on it and download the wallpapers manually. Then make sure to transfer them to the device you want to use the wallpapers on.

Once the full-sized images are on your handset, install them using the steps below.

How to install a wallpaper:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Go into Wallpaper & style.
  • Tap on Change wallpaper.
  • Go into My photos.
  • Find the wallpaper you want to set and select it.
  • Adjust the wallpaper as you wish and hit the checkmark.
  • Select if you want to set your wallpaper on the Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screen.

    • Note: These instructions were put together using a Pixel 4a with 5G running Android 12. Remember some steps might differ depending on your device and Android version.
