OnePlus lists Oxygen OS 13 goals after community preview round

At the backdrop of the recently concluded Mobile World Congress, OnePlus made it plenty clear that Oxygen OS is here to stay and will not be merging with Oppo’s Color OS to form a new “unified OS.” In fact, the company went ahead and announced the next big update to its software — Oxygen OS 13. Further to those announcements, OnePlus held an Open Ears Forum (OEF) about the upcoming version of Oxygen OS, where it provided a preview of the software to some community members. The Chinese manufacturer has now posted some details of that meet-up.

OnePlus’ forum post reveals that Oxygen OS 13 is well under development right now. The company introduced some upcoming new features to attendees of the OEF. However, it isn’t ready to reveal those just yet. Still, after gathering feedback from participants of the OEF, OnePlus listed the following actions for Oxygen OS 13, giving us a general idea of some of the improvements it might bring.

• Improve UI personalization and consistency.
• Improve system consistency and optimize some functions path.
• Add more features in AOD (like Music Player).
• Optimize Zen Mode to provide users with a more immersive and efficient experience.

Interestingly, OnePlus also said that Oxygen OS 12 did not launch to a standard that met its own expectations or that of the community.

The firm also answered some frequently asked questions about the relationship between Oxygen OS and Color OS.

When facing strong competitors in the global market, combining the strengths of both is the only way to truly leverage the strengths of Oppo & OnePlus and provide better products to our customers. The OS teams are fully integrated into one and ready to collaborate and learn from each other’s experience, together we will build OS products hand in hand,” OnePlus noted in one of its answers.

Lastly, the phone maker said that one of the goals for the unified software team is to expedite all updates for Oxygen OS and Color OS while improving software build quality.
