Nvidia not-so-subtly hints Half-Life 2 is on its way to the Shield

Just yesterday we learned that Valve’s classic PC game Portal will arrive to Google Play on May 12th, exclusively for the Nvidia Shield and at a cost of $9.99. Now it seems that Nvidia is dropping hints that yet another Valve classic is on its way to the Shield, this time Half-Life 2.

What’s the hint? Nvidia has sent out several crowbars to various media outlets, adorned in green and featuring two logos: an Nvidia Shield logo and Half-Life 2’s logo. In addition to the logos are the words “What would Gordon do?” Unfortunately that’s really all the details we have just yet, though we can’t say we’re too surprised to see this one coming ton Android. Like Portal, we imagine it will start out as an Nvidia Shield exclusive, though here’s to hoping that Nvidia eventually opens up these games to other devices.

It’s also worth noting that the Portal port was achieved with Valve’s approval, but it was Nvidia that actually did the legwork involved to bring it to Android. We imagine that the same thing will happen with Half-Life 2. While it’s great to see classic games made with the Source engine come to Android, it’s too bad that the release is only being relegated to one device.

We’ll be sure to report back as soon as we learn more details about when Half-Life 2 is expected to arrive to Android. Hopefully the wait is a short one for Nvidia Shield owners looking to pick up the game.
