MetroPCS launches Coolpad Quattro 4G for just $99 with no contract

Publish date: 2022-09-16

MetroPCS is not exactly known for offering a very wide range of smartphones, but we’ve heard a couple of rumors for the past month or so that the number six US carrier was looking to really strengthen its gadget line-up.

We’re calling this brand new 4-incher an entry-level phone even though it has a couple of features that makes it aspire to fitting into the mid-range niche. Despite those, the fact it runs of Gingerbread out of the box and the lack of speed under the hood assure this little guy a place in the Android “underworld”.

MetroPCS hasn’t exactly spoiled us with official pics of the new Coolpad Quattro, but, as far as we can tell, the phone sports a simplistic overall design, which will most likely not help it stand out of the crowd. Then again, we prefer a “plain-looking” handheld to an ugly or tacky one, especially in the low-end niche where looks can be deceiving.

The Quattro is certainly not a winning device in the hardware or software department, but it does come with at least one technical detail not befitting of an entry-level phone. The 4-incher is equipped with high-speed 4G LTE radios, which is a feature that sometimes lacks even on mid-rangers.

In terms of pricing, MetroPCS has a very pleasant surprise for all of you from the get-go, already putting the Quattro 4G on a “limited-time special sale”. The 4-incher currently goes for $99 with no contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate. You can then pair the phone with the carrier’s ultra-affordable prepaid plans starting at $40 per month with unlimited talk, text and data.
