KitKat kernel sources for Moto G released by Motorola
Now that Motorola’s roll out of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Moto G is safely underway the company has published the kernel sources on the popular open source project site SourceForge.Android 4.4.2 KitKat started rolling out for the Moto G in North America in December and last week the European versions of the phone started to receive the same KitKat goodness. And as a good open source citizen (and subsidiary of Google) Motorola has also released the kernel sources for Android 4.4.2 on the Moto G.
According to the README file, to build Android for the Moto G you need to start with a “vanilla” KitKat release from Google and then apply Motorola’s patches and build the Motorola provided repositories that supersede the default AOSP ones. Among the Motorola supplied repositories are a version of Chromium (the open source base for the Chrome web browser) from late November 2013 and a driver for the Qualcomm Wi-Fi module.
