Smartphones cameras are getting better every year, and even affordable smartphones now feature impressive shooters (you can find some of the best ones in the lists linked below). Despite these improvements, getting the right shot isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to selfies. The perfect selfie needs the right lighting, angle, and scenery. It’s also hard to get it when you don’t have a lens that’s wide enough to cover you and all your buddies. This is where a good selfie stick can make all the difference. Here’s a roundup of some of the best smartphone selfie sticks you can buy!

The best selfie sticks

Editor’s note: We’ll be updating this list of the best selfie sticks regularly as new devices launch.

Atumtek Selfie Stick Tripod

This Atumtek product is one of the best selfie sticks because it’s made with heavy-duty aluminum with outstanding construction and functionality. It can also extend up to 31.3 inches and doubles as a tripod with legs that fold out, and you can take shots from a distance using the detachable Bluetooth remote. It helps that the selfie stick also happens to look great.

Befame Selfie Stick Tripod with Remote

This is definitely one of the best selfie sticks you can buy. It’s unique because of the integrated fill light, which will be very helpful for those nighttime selfies. The product also comes with plenty of features, though. These include legs to turn the stick into a tripod, a Bluetooth remote, and a stick that can extend up to 40 inches. It helps that it’s also very affordable for its feature set.

Joby GorillaPod 1K Kit

This one isn’t exactly a selfie stick, but it will work just as well as the best selfie sticks. It may only extend your reach by about 10 inches, but it has flexible legs and is much more solidly built than most tripods out there. A GorillaPod can take a beating! It can also hold cameras that weigh up to 1kg (about 2.2lbs), so you can use it with anything. It’s mostly made for dedicated cameras, though, so you will also need a smartphone tripod adapter for this one.

GoPro 3-Way Camera Mount

While not exactly made for smartphones, we thought the GoPro 3-Way Camera Mount was a worthy addition. The only real caveat here is that you’ll need a phone mount converter, but those are cheap and easy to find on Amazon. You’ll be rewarded for the extra effort with a super versatile foldable stick that can take on many shapes. It also comes from a trusted brand and even includes a tripod stand. It’s unique and functional, not to mention you can also use it with your GoPro camera if you have one.

Zhiyun Smooth XS

If you want something more advanced than a simple selfie stick, but also relatively affordable and pocketable, the Zhiyun Smooth XS is one of the best selfie sticks you can find. What’s best is it does more than extend your arm’s reach. This device doubles as a smartphone gimbal! The only real sacrifice is that it has 2-axis stabilization instead of 3-axis.

The device otherwise works great. It has a good build quality. You also get access to the app, which allows object/face tracking, gesture control, and various shooting modes.

It’s important to note there is now a successor, named the Zhiyun Smooth X2. We didn’t list that one because we believe it to be too expensive for what it offers. It doesn’t have any significant benefits over the Smooth XS, yet it costs more than twice the price.

Moza Mini S

If you want to take things up a notch and don’t mind paying extra cash, this is the very best selfie stick in our book. The Moza Mini S comes with an extendable arm that can reach out 12cm. But what’s most important is that it’s actually a 3-axis gimbal. This means that, unlike Zhiyun’s alternative, this one can keep roll, pitch, and yaw stabilized. This means video clips will be significantly smoother.

The unit also has one of the best ergonomic designs we’ve seen, and it can carry a max payload of 260g, which is a significant amount for smartphone stabilizers. The unit can also fold down to one of the smallest profiles we’ve seen on smartphone stabilizers, so carrying it around won’t be as much of a hassle.

You may have noticed we added a couple of gimbals to this list, as they essentially work as a selfie stick as well. We only included the ones with extendable arms, though. Those interested in a smartphone gimbal should also check out our complete list of favorite options.
