Google I/O set for June 25-26 2014, new registration system promised

Google’s head of Android and Chrome, Sundar Pichai, just revealed that the developer conference Google I/O will take place this year on June 25-26.

Taking to Google Plus, Pichai explained that this year the company wants to avoid the mad dash for tickets from the past by implementing a new registration system. People interested in attending will “submit their interest”, and Google will randomly select the “winners” that’ll get to attend to Google’s biggest event of the year. Last year, tickets for the conference sold out in less than an hour, and server issues left many people frustrated. A lottery system should make the registration process a bit less frustrating, though truth be told, randomly selecting attendants is not an ideal solution by any means.

Sundar Pichai promised more details about the conference and the registration process will be coming over the next months. Just like the prior editions, Google I/O 2014 will be held at Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Here’s Google’s own highlight reel from last year’s edition:

A bit early to speculate, but what do you think we will see this year at Google I/O?
