Google Chromecast expected to land in the UK this March

Publish date: 2022-10-14

The Google Chromecast is easily one of the most affordable media streaming devices available in the United States, but up until now the device wasn’t officially available to the rest of the world — at least not without paying exorbitant prices through an importer. The good news is that this situation may soon be changing.

A rep from UK electronics retailer Currys has revealed that the Chromecast is heading their way on March 1st. Google has since confirmed that the Chromecast is coming soon, though it notes that the March 1st date is not set in stone.

With the official SDK finally arriving earlier this week, the timing certainly seems right. In the few days since the announcement we’ve already seen several new apps add Chromecast support including AllCast and Dayframe, with many more apps in the pipeline.

So we know that the Chromecast will arrive to UK (and hopefully the rest of Europe) by this spring, but one mystery remains: the price tag. The media streamer sells for an extremely cheap $35 stateside, but it’s hard to say if Google will offer it for such a low price in Europe or not.

What do you think, interested in getting your hands on the Chromecast? How much would you be willing to pay for the device? Let us know in the comments.
