Dark modes have become a staple on smartphones over the years, making for an especially eye-friendly color option at night. But we’ve also seen the blue light filter mode become a staple on modern smartphones, providing several touted benefits.

The Blue Light Filter option (also known as Night Light, Eye Comfort mode, Read mode, or Eye Protection mode) filters out blue light on the screen in favor of warmer tones. Manufacturers claim that this option can reduce eye fatigue, while there have also been studies suggesting that blue light from screens can affect sleep.
