Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update heading to Orange San Diego

Publish date: 2022-04-01

The Orange San Diego is not your ordinary Android smartphone. Released on June 6 in the UK, it marks Intel’s first foray in the smartphone market, as it is powered by the company’s 1.6GHz Atom Z2460 Medfield processor.

Though the Atom-based 4-inch phone is by no means a slouch, early adopters were rather puzzled by Intel’s decision to ship it only with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which didn’t exactly help convince more buyers to flock to the San Diego. Nevertheless, an update to Ice Cream Sandwich was promised, and it’s finally here.

The Android 4.0 update has reportedly reached several owners of the San Diego.  We’re guessing Orange is sending out the new firmware via over-the-air method, so you may want to check your phone manually to see if an update is waiting.

Another Intel-based Android phone, the Lava Xolo X900, has already received its tasty treat a few days back. The responses have been great, with users said that Ice Cream Sandwich has truly improved the speed and performance of the phone. Owners of Orange San Diego can expect the same thing when ICS reaches their handset.

Any sign of the ICS update on your San Diego? Folks who have received the latest firmware, how do you like your phone now?
