Amazon TV ad pits Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with iPad's Retina Display
If you’d rather watch than read, the video is posted at the bottom of the article. It starts out innocently enough by comparing the displays of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with the iPad. They have no problem calling the iPad’s display stunning. It continues as both tablets show various, beautiful HD pictures.
Amazon points out that most people probably can’t tell the difference between the two displays, and they’re probably right. Unless you take a magnifying glass to your tablet screens, you probably won’t notice the size of the pixels. At regular viewing length, HD is HD and a few extra pixels per inch won’t matter to most people.
Then the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and iPad made it to the last slide
The last picture they compare is a price of each tablet. While the iPad goes for $499, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 goes for $299. The advantage tips further in the Kindle Fire HD 8.9’s favor because Amazon is throwing a sale for their Kindle Fire HD tablets right now. So take that those savings and add another $30 to $50 depending on if you get the WiFi or 4G LTE version.
Most believe the Kindle Fire series tablets can’t compete with Apple and pure Android tablets due to their restricted ecosystem. For half the price of an iPad, though, it’s still pretty competitive. Will this commercial catch the attention of Apple fans?
