Amazon Kindle sale gets you an Oasis for $150

You’re in luck if you’ve pined for Amazon’s Kindle Oasis eReader but have been put off by the official $250-plus price. That’s as much as you’d normally pay for a brand new Kindle Paperwhite without ads, and might be worthwhile if you or a loved one is a digital bookworm. The 7-inch, 300ppi display remains as crisp and easy to read as ever, with built-in lighting on hand to help you finish chapters in the dark. This was also the first water-resistant Kindle. It can last in freshwater for up to an hour at depths as great as 6.5 feet. You may not want to count on the Oasis surviving an accident at a saltwater beach, but it’s otherwise resilient.

The modern Kindle Paperwhite comes close in some respects. You’ll get a 300ppi screen, LED lighting, water-resistance, and cellular data. The older Oasis boasts a larger screen, though, and you may prefer its dedicated page turn buttons. Think of this as a slight upgrade that helps you read more comfortably without spending as much as $100 more for the privilege.
