Ainol Novo 10 Captain tablet unveiled with 1920 x 1200 pix res screen

If the race for the snappiest smartphone with the highest resolution display is not just on, but crazy heated, the competition for the 10-inch tablet with the coolest screen seems to have stagnated a bit lately.

Apple and Google have basically brought into play the only two 10-inchers with a better display than the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700, a tab that’s close to celebrating its six-month birthday. Furthermore, there are no major players to have come out with a 1920 x 1200 pix res panel identical to the Infinity, which is too bad, because that resolution and the 224 ppi pixel density make the display look just stunning.

But if the world’s major tablet manufacturers are avoiding for some reason that kind of screen, we only need to turn our attention to China, where Ainol has just unveiled the Novo 10 Captain. This is the second time in just one week when Ainol is in the spotlight, but if you were impressed with the Novo 10 Hero tabs, the Captain will certainly leave you speechless.

The main attraction point of this new tab is certainly the 10.1-inch IPS display that boasts a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, but the quad-core ATM7029 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz, the Mali 400 GPU and the running of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean should also contribute to the Captain’s wow factor.

The rest of the features are more down to earth and include 1 GB of RAM, a 2 MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing webcam, microSD support, a mini USB port, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The 10,000 mAh battery might be another great thing about the 10-incher, though until testing the tab out we can’t know for sure how will that huge capacity translate into real-life autonomy.

As for internal storage, the tab will be available in two versions, with 8 or 16 GB of memory, which is a bit odd, considering its high-end “material”. Then again, it’s obvious that this is a 10-incher meant for tech users on a budget, who’ll be glad to know that they can grab a Novo 10 Captain for as less as $212.90.

That’s of course the price of the 8 GB model, while the 16 GB version should go for $259.99. None of the two tabs is yet available for sale, but be sure to keep an eye on Ainol’s website and on DealsPrime until around mid-December. Especially that you should be able to have the tab shipped to you not only in China, but also across Europe or in the US for the right price.
